Privacy policy

The short version

There is no account, so there is nothing to attach your writing to. Your text is sent to be analysed, the result comes back, and it is not saved to any database of ours. Your recent essays live in your own browser and nowhere else. We set one cookie, and it is there to keep automated abuse off the tools rather than to follow you.

What happens to the text you paste

Each tool sends your text to our server, which passes it to whichever services do that particular job, then returns the result to your browser. Nothing is written to a database and no copy is kept once the request finishes. Our server logs record that a request happened, its size and whether it succeeded, but not what was in it.

Which service handles what:

• AI detection goes to a third party detection service, and to our own detection model as a fallback if that service is unavailable.
• Grading, the writing check and the structure read go to Microsoft Azure OpenAI.
• The humanizer goes to Google Cloud Vertex AI, and its result is then passed through Azure OpenAI to repair any spelling or grammar the rewrite broke.

Microsoft states that data sent through Azure OpenAI is not used to train its models, and Google states the same for Vertex AI. Their handling of your text is governed by their terms, not ours. If that matters to you, do not paste anything confidential into any online writing tool, including this one.

What is stored in your browser

Two things are kept in your browser's local storage, meaning on your own device and not on any server:

• Your last twelve essays across all four tools, so you can reopen something you worked on earlier.
• The text currently in each editor, so a refresh or an accidental back button does not lose your work.

None of this is transmitted anywhere. Clearing your browser data, or using the clear button in the history menu, removes it permanently. We cannot recover it for you, because we never had it.

Cookies

One cookie, named ec_verified. When you first use a tool, Cloudflare Turnstile checks that you are a person rather than a script. That check is exchanged for this cookie, which lasts thirty minutes and tells our own server you have already passed. Without it, every request would have to be challenged separately.

It contains an expiry time and a signature, nothing else. No identifier, no profile, nothing that can be tied back to you or your text. It is strictly necessary for the tools to function, which is why there is no cookie banner asking you to accept it.

There are no advertising cookies and no third party analytics script on this site.

Your IP address

Your IP address is used for two things: applying hourly usage limits so one person cannot exhaust the tools for everyone else, and passing to Cloudflare as part of the Turnstile check. It is held in memory for the length of the limit window and is not stored long term or linked to your text.

Children

These tools are used by school students, including under 13s working with a teacher. Because no account exists and no personal information is requested or stored, there is nothing collected from a child to protect. Please do not paste text containing personal details about yourself or anyone else.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that affects what happens to your text, the date at the top of this page changes with it.
